Camp Life

Orchestra
The MASTA Camp Orchestras are directed by leading teachers in Michigan and result in a high-quality musical experience for students. Orchestras are ability based to guarantee success for campers. Orchestras rehearse twice a day. On the final day of camp parents and family members will be treated to a performance by their child's orchestra.

Sectionals
Daily sectionals lead by specialists on each instrument give students specialized instruction on their orchestra parts. Sectionals meet once a day for an hour.

Small Ensembles
Daily small ensembles coached by high-quality teachers help campers develop techniques and skills specialized to their abilities and designed to expand their skills. Small ensembles meet for approximately 1 hour each day.

Exploratory Classes
Small classes in rhythm, theory, and alternative styles help develop campers' skills and musicianship away from their instrument in fun and engaging classes geared to the age of the students.

Recreation
Each day campers will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of recreation activities including guided nature hikes, climbing tower, field sports, arts & crafts, etc.

Evening Activities
Campers participate in evening activities while at camp in order to relax, have fun, and to socialize with their fellow campers and get out some energy before heading to bed. Evening activities include a staff concert, line  dancing, a camp fire with S'Mores, and at Session III there is a camp dance with our own MASTA Camp DJ Mr. Rodney Page!!

Meals
Meals are age-appropriate and plentiful! Students have hot menu items for every meal and choices are offered for vegetarians and those with other dietary needs at every meal. Almost all dietary concerns can be accommodated. If your child has any special dietary needs please notify the camp staff prior to arriving at camp so that accommodations can be arranged in advance.

Cabins
Campers stay in barracks-style cabins with attached bathrooms. Counselors stay in the cabins with campers and arrange cabin activities. There is a Clean Cabin competition during camp where campers compete for the Clean Cabin Award by keeping their cabin clean and decorating it with various provided materials. There are special rewards for getting the clean cabin!!

"My favorite thing about MASTA Camp is the "fun day" and the many numerous activities they have to offer and how you basically become friends with everyone. MASTA is just overall the best experience ever!" Kacie H.

"I remember the fried chicken, it was really good." Waverly B.G.

"I love lunch time, it is really fun! Also I love Rec. time!!!!" Alexis R.
